Responsibilities
The Senior Program Coordinator will be work in the Central Office of the Bureau of Healthcare Associated Infections and will work with senior staff to develop the NYSDOH’s antimicrobial stewardship (AS) efforts. The incumbent will be expected to develop and maintain technical knowledge and understanding of AS principles across the healthcare spectrum. The incumbent will take a leadership role in AS activities and oversee the coordination of AS activities. Activities will include working with stakeholders to develop and maintain awareness of AS activities occurring in NYS and nationally, identify and use data from a variety of sources to identify trends and inform development of AS promotional activities and educational materials (e.g., National Healthcare Safety Network, NYS State Aid Applications, Medicaid data), and engage healthcare facilities to ensure the appropriate use of antibiotics throughout a variety of healthcare settings. The incumbent will ensure that health equity indicators are incorporated into all aspects of the work. Working with senior staff, the incumbent will also engage with Local Health Departments (LHDs) to support AS work occurring at LHDs and determine additional support that may be needed. The incumbent will participate in CDC-led activities, as needed, to successfully achieve the goal to improve appropriate use of antibiotics in NYS.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of program coordination experience in a public health, health, or human services-related program or community-based organization; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and six years of such experience; OR eight years of such experience. The experience must have been contributing toward the development, implementation and/or evaluation of a program, project, or other related activities. At least two years of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management. A master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. Two years of qualifying experience must include program management and/or the supervision of staff.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or graduate degree in infection control, biology, statistics, public health, epidemiology, nursing, or a related field. Infectious disease pharmacist or clinical pharmacist with experience leading or participating in an institutional antibiotic stewardship program. At least three years’ work experience in antibiotic stewardship, quality improvement in healthcare settings, public health surveillance, healthcare-associated infection surveillance, and/or related public health activities. Experience leading quality improvement projects. Knowledge of antibiotic stewardship related principles. Demonstrated experience writing reports or similar written communication and providing presentations. Experience with health-related data sets or disease registries and working with confidential data. Experience with information technology and systems used for electronic public health reporting. Experience supervising staff.
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

The Infection Preventionist (IP) identifies, controls, and prevents outbreaks of infection in healthcare settings and the community. The IP Monitors known and suspected sources of infection and participates in the implementation of the Medical Center's Infection Prevention program, through facilitating compliance with Infection Prevention policies and guidelines and consulting with personnel, patients and patients’ families regarding infection prevention and control issues and practices. The IP works in collaboration with members across the healthcare team and serves as liaison with outside agencies (e.g., DOH).
QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in health related field (e.g. MPH, MS, MSN), or RN with five years of clinical experience, or Certification in Infection Control (CIC). An advanced degree and certification preferred. CIC is required within three years of hire.
• 5 years clinical nursing experience or experience in a healthcare related field if RN without Master’s degree or CIC. If non-RN, master’s degree in health care related field and work experience in healthcare related field required.
• If RN, current New York State nurse licensure required
• Active Certification endorsed by the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC) is preferred for experienced IPs. Novice IPs must acquire CIC within 3 years of employment.

Responsible for the development, coordination, management, execution, and organization of infection prevention-related quality and performance improvement activities at Montefiore Medical Center. This Manager of Infection Prevention and Control maintains the standards of practice for Infection Prevention as defined by the program’s Standard Operating Procedures for Infection Prevention, and as defined by regulatory agencies and national standards. This position is accountable with the Nursing Director for the overall management activities for the Medical Center infection prevention and control program all sites, which includes assistance with supervision of the Infection Prevention and Control processes, and will have a leadership role for designated special projects to ensure quality care and patient safety. Accountable with the Nursing Director, the Infection Prevention Committee Chairman, and Committee members in a shared governance model to plan, develop, implement and evaluate outcomes of the Infection Prevention and Control Program. Responsibilities:
The responsibility of the Infection Preventionist is to implement the Infection Control Program and activities in accordance with current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs. Oversees and conducts wound care assessment in collaboration with wound care consultant and completes documentation as applicable in the absence of the Wound Care Manager. Manages and supervises the staff activities and ensures staff competencies in the delivery of care.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully Associate’s Degree in Nursing Required. Bachelor’s Degree or MSN from an accredited university preferred. A minimum of 2 years experience as a staff nurse, a minimum of 1 year experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long term care facility or other related medical facility and a minimum of 1 year experience supervising and implementing infection control programs. JOB DESCRIPTION
The Infection Preventionist (IP) identifies, controls, and prevents outbreaks of infection in healthcare settings and the community. The IP Monitors known and suspected sources of infection and participates in the implementation of the Medical Center's Infection Prevention program, through facilitating compliance with Infection Prevention policies and guidelines and consulting with personnel, patients and patients’ families regarding infection prevention and control issues and practices. The IP works in collaboration with members across the healthcare team and serves as liaison with outside agencies (e.g., DOH).
QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in health related field (e.g. MPH, MS, MSN), or RN with five years of clinical experience, or Certification in Infection Control (CIC). An advanced degree and certification preferred. CIC is required within three years of hire.
• 5 years clinical nursing experience or experience in a healthcare related field if RN without Master’s degree or CIC. If non-RN, master’s degree in health care related field and work experience in healthcare related field required.
• If RN, current New York State nurse licensure required
• Active Certification endorsed by the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC) is preferred for experienced IPs. Novice IPs must acquire CIC within 3 years of employment.
