2017 Meeting Dates
December 20, 2017 - Chapter leadership election results were announced, Barbara Smith was recognized as one of our two Infection Control Champions (Steve Bock is our other champion but was not able to attend the meeting), and we held our annual holiday party. We also recognized past leaders from the chapter, especially those who served as past presidents.
November 15, 2017 - Thank you to Molly M. Kratz, MPH, Antibiotic Resistance Prevention Program Director, Bureau of Communicable Disease, NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene for your presentation Antibiotic Resistance Prevention Program Initiatives and Dr. Eleanor Adams, MD MPH, Healthcare Epidemiology & Infection Control Program, Metropolitan Area Regional Office for your talk on Candida auris in New York State. Thanks also to Steve Bock (NYU Langone Health) for presenting our Journal Club on this good AJIC article and to Angela Gabasan (Mount Sinai West/St. Luke's Hospital) for doing our Q&A presentation. Finally, we offer a special thanks to Abegail Panagan from Hospital for Special Surgery who shared about her winning the Professional Development Award earlier this year.
October 18, 2017 - We held our day-long conference "The Evolving Landscape of Infection Prevention" at the LaGuardia Marriott. Thank you to our great group of speakers, vendors, and volunteers who helped make the day tremendously successful. Special thanks to our speakers: Dr. Elaine Larson who presented "From Reactive to Proactive: Making Change Happen," Dr. Michael Phillips who presented "The Use of Molecular Epidemiology and Statistical Software to Detect Transmission of Pathogens in the Healthcare Setting," Drs. Lisa Saiman, Gopi Patel, and Suhas Nafday who presented our panel on Outbreak Management, Dr. Devin Carr, who presented "Harnessing the Power of Data (Big and Small) to Improve Clinical and Economic Outcomes," and national APIC president-elect Janet Haas who presented "Preparing for the Future of Infection Prevention."
September 20, 2017 - Thank you to Judy Lambert BS CSPDT, 3M Monitoring Technical Consultant, for sharing your presentation "What is Happening Inside That Magic Box - Fundamentals of Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide Sterilization."
